Almost departure time!

We're less than 24 hours away from pulling out of the parking lot at church with a group of wide-eyed and excited people ready to go experience a different part of God's creation. A lot of planning has got us here - and in a few hours, we'll find out just how well we did at that planning part! The closer that the departure date (and now, time) comes, the more I feel like this trip is pulled out of binders and details and the conference room and is put in God's hands.

There has been a lot to take care of before we could go to Haiti. The team leadership has come into a few "last minute" projects - details that are small enough not to keep us from leaving, but large enough to give us a headache!

I need to remember that God has paved the way for this team to go spend a week in a third-world country that lives without many of the luxuries that we fight against each day.

If I keep wondering if I brought enough snacks for the long plane trip, or if I brought enough clean clothes, or how clean my food will be when it is served to me or __you name it__, I will have inadvertently resolved that God has occupied the backseat - maybe because I asked Him to jump back there and wait until I finished planning this trip!

So - pray with me today, for the following:

- Open hearts and open minds of team members who will be experiencing new places, people, languages, food and ways of life.

- Opportunities to stop talking and listen - either to someone or the Holy Spirit.

- Ways for the team to encourage one another - either in good times or otherwise!

- Whether it is as small as traveling courtesies with other passengers or as large as learning the Haitian way of life, pray that we're granted peace and humility in a new situation.

Thank you for your incredible support, church family! We should have pictures up tomorrow for you to see!
